Dons take a well earned point

Wimbledon take on Crewe Alexandra who currently sit 2nd in the table after a really good start for the railway men. AFC Wimbledon come of the back of a 0-0 draw against  bitter rivals MK. A win for either side would do the world of good in their hopes for automatic promotion.

Johnnie Jackson makes a number of changes in order to keep everyone fit. These changes include the likes of Aron Sasu, James Furlong and Marcus Browne come in. The game started off quite lively for the Dons as a few half hearted chances fell in the Crewe box but nothing to much to shout about. However the Dons early spell of pressure was soon vanished after a freekick was swung into the box for an unmarked Knight-Lebel to poke the ball home. A goal that the Wimbledon centre backs won’t want to see again. Extremely poor defending.

The goal didn’t demoralize the Dons as they pushed even harder to find an equalizing goal. On the stroke of half time the ball found Josh Neufvilles feet where he guides the ball forward and strikes brilliantly into the bottom left corner.

The second half saw a plethora of chances fall for the Wombles as they seemed to have 5 successive corners within the space of the first 5 minutes. A goalmouth scramble and a header from Ryan Johnson was the closest the Dons could get to a goal in the corner successions. A strike from Marcus Browne saw his effort rattle the crossbar in which would have been some way to win the game for Wimbledon however it wasn’t to be. A late chance for Crewe as Kane Hemmings finds he way through on goal but Joe Lewis does exceptionally well to defend the one on one however he did look like he injured himself from doing so.

Full time: Crewe Alexandra 1-1 AFC Wimbledon

A game where it feels like 2 points dropped considering the amount of chances We had. Massive game against Bradford on Saturday. If we can get the win then we are in the business.

MOTM: Marcus Browne 🥇
