22/23 Wimbledon Vibes

After a crucial away win against Carlisle last weekend, it was important to back that game up with a win the following weekend. This week the Dons faced 17th place Barrow who really had nothing and still have nothing to play for.  The Dons make 2 changes with James Tilley back in favour over James Furlong and Marcus Browne in for Omar Bugiel who is out representing Lebanon. The first half was Wimbledon dominating the ball but ultimately didn’t do enough to get near the Barrow net with Steven’s coming the closest with a tap in just passing the tip of his boot. The second half however had all the action a neutral would want. The Dons open the scoring through Marcus Browne as he superbly finished into the far post to put the Wimbledon 1-0 up. As the 85th minute rolled by, Josh Neufville does excellently to beat his man and cross the ball into Matty Steven’s who ends his 7 game goal drought to put the Dons 2-0. If only the full time whistle has blown there… In the 88th minute Wim...

We won away!

After Tuesdays surprising defeat at home to Cheltenham, the Dons face their longest away trip this season as they head to Cumbria to face bottom of the league, Carlisle United. A win for Carlisle would help them get back on track towards survival and a win for Wimbledon would keep their automatic dreams alive.  Changes from Tuesday saw James Tilley left out of the squad due to some injury concerns which saw James Furlong replace him on the left side. Aswell as Callum Maycock replacing Marcus Browne in midfield and Ryan Johnson returns from injury to replace Issac Ogundere.  A promising start from the Wombles as inside 2 minutes they see themselves 0-1 up thanks to a clever strike from Callum Maycock placing it into the top corner. The start the Dons needed. The first half saw very little quality after the goal however a massive chance for Wimbledon to make it 2 came Bugiels way as a shot from Smith was fumbled by the Carlisle goalkeeper which fell kindly to Bugiel but so...

The Autos are still on for Wimbledon!

After two really disappointing defeats to Bromley and Morecambe. It was crucial that Wimbledon had to win against fellow promotion contenders, Notts County. Aswell as the Dons, Notts county found themselves struggling in form of late as they just come off a loss to Barrow at home.   Changes in the side saw Sam Hutchinson come in for Ryan Johnson, who wasn’t seen in the squad at all. Aswell as Tilley for Furlong, Steven’s for Pigott and Riley Harbottle and Osman Foyo both make the bench.  The game started off in the Dons favour as they pegged Notts county into their own half with the first chance coming the way off Ali Smith who has a free header ,but at an awkward angle, off target. After a few good chances, James Tilley swung in a lovely corner to find an unmarked Joe Lewis to head home for his first of the season. It didn’t stop there for the Dons as Wimbledon just kept on coming at Notts. A ball found the path of Jake Reeves who lays it off to Ali Smith and after a bi...

Defensive error costs the Dons!

Following a 1-1 heartbreak at Colchester last weekend, the Dons had a full week of training to fully prepare for a tough game against Bromley. Bromley sit 10th in the league after Andy Woodmans side are looking to push for playoffs in their first ever season in the EFL. Wimbledon could do with a win to keep their hopes alive of getting an automatic promotion spot.  Wimbledon make zero changes from Colchester as Johnnie Jackson seems to know his best squad by now. The game started off heavily towards Bromley with the first chance coming to Micheal Cheek in the 1st minute where he is slipped through but drags his shot wide. An early let off… Bromley were threatening the Dons goal a lot in the first half with Wimbledon creating barely any.  The second half Wimbledon seemed to be up for it a lot more than the first. With a plethora of chances coming to the likes of Marcus Browne who has a shot cleared off the line heroically by Carl Jenkinson. However a header back to the Ow...
