Dons move into the playoffs!

After Saturdays loss to a good Walsall side, the Dons will be hoping to bring all 3 points back to southwest London as they travel up to Merseyside to face Tranmere Rovers.  Tranmere come off a 1-0 loss to Cheltenham and hope to bounce back, the same as Wimbledon, to clinch the 3 points. Only 1 change for the Dons which saw James Ball replace Alistair Smith in midfield. The game started off quite lively with most chances falling the way of Tranmere. The most notable chance came to Dennis who struck his effort just wide off the right hand side of the goal. However the Dons found space on the far left side as Ryan Johnson plays a superb ball into Callum Maycock in which he squares it to Matty Stevens who tucks it away to continue his brilliant goalscoring form, 1-0 to the Dons. The second half kicks off and the Dons start the better as a ball finds Tilleys feet on the right hand side who takes on his man and drills a ball to the front post where Omar Bugiel is there to nod it h...

Dons snatch a point at the death!

After a 1-3 away win for against Barrow, the Dons will be looking to continue that momentum going into Tuesdays catch up game against Accrington Stanley. Accrington Stanley sit 17th before this game but were 5 unbeaten beforehand. Accrington only have ever been a ‘bogey team’ since Wimbledon  have arrived at  Plough Lane with the Dons recording 0 wins against Stanley which have both been very high scoring.  The Dons make 1 change as James Furlong replaces Joe Lewis who had a 1 match ban due to the centre half picking up his fifth yellow card at Barrow on Saturday. The game started quite energetically with chances coming left right and centre for the Dons as Matty Stevens sees one if his headers poked wide and a shot skied over the bar. Going into half time the Dons seemed the more likely to score first in the second half if they could just take their chances. The second half introduced us to all the action as in the 58th minute, Joe Pigott failed to clear his lines ...

Grimbsy take all 3 points as Wimbledons 100% home record is terminated

Many where optimistic towards this weeks fixture against Grimsby after the triumph over Milton Keynes a week ago. A full week of training could help the Dons get back up to full fitness and back up the table.  In previous fixtures against Grimsby, there hasn’t been many goals to show any significance in the fixture. It’s ended 0-0 in the previous 2 games the teams had played eachother. So this game could be another one of those.  It’s fair to note that Wimbledon before this game have had an 100% win home record this season whilst Grimsby have won 4 away games in a row so it will be interesting to see how this game pans out. Wimbledon make no changes from their win over bitter rivals MK. The first half carried out a disallowed goal for Wimbledon as a ball was swung into the box where the goalkeeper claimed the ball but was bodied off the ball by Bugiel to which Steven’s headed into an empty net. However the referee had decided to give Grimsby a freekick for the apparent f...

Dons make it 3 in a row!

After last weeks events of narrowly losing 3-2 to a strong Port Vale side. Wimbledon can be proud of there efforts in coming so close to snatching a point off that game. However, the grudge match was yet to come.  The Dons had drawn Milton Keynes in the first round of the FA Cup. Out of all the teams in the draw, it had to be them. But Wimbledon had to deal with it and get it over the line and that’s exactly what they did. Sunday, 12:30pm. Be there. That was the message to all Wimbledon supporters. Over 1800 Dons fans travelled up to Stadium MK that afternoon hoping to come out victorious once again. The lineup was unchanged from Port Vale with Ball keeping his place as Centre half over recently returned Riley Harbottle. The first half felt quite scrappy. Not too many chances until the last 10 minutes of the half. This was when Alex Gilbey found himself through on goal, only for Joe Lewis to make a crucial tackle to stop a certain goal. From that moment on it just went Wimble...
