Dons make it 3 in a row!

After last weeks events of narrowly losing 3-2 to a strong Port Vale side. Wimbledon can be proud of there efforts in coming so close to snatching a point off that game. However, the grudge match was yet to come.

The Dons had drawn Milton Keynes in the first round of the FA Cup. Out of all the teams in the draw, it had to be them. But Wimbledon had to deal with it and get it over the line and that’s exactly what they did.

Sunday, 12:30pm. Be there. That was the message to all Wimbledon supporters. Over 1800 Dons fans travelled up to Stadium MK that afternoon hoping to come out victorious once again. The lineup was unchanged from Port Vale with Ball keeping his place as Centre half over recently returned Riley Harbottle. The first half felt quite scrappy. Not too many chances until the last 10 minutes of the half. This was when Alex Gilbey found himself through on goal, only for Joe Lewis to make a crucial tackle to stop a certain goal. From that moment on it just went Wimbledons way. A long ball from Goodman found its way to Bugiel to which he nicely guided the ball over the back line to find Matty Steven’s who slots it away superbly making it 0-1 to the Dons.

The second half starts and you’d think MK would have at least shown some fight to get back into the tie. No they didn’t. Wimbledon immediately get on the counter to which a ball lands to Neufville’s feet to which he puts in a delightful ball to find Tilley’s head. Tilley somewhat controls it but seems to guide the ball away from goal until Omar Bugiel comes sliding in at the back post to smash the ball into the net. 0-2 to the Dons.

In the 71st minute, Josh Neufville beats Connor Lemonheigh-Evan’s to the ball making Evan’s to foul Neufville resulting in a red card for the former Dons loanee. This seemed to be like the perfect afternoon for the Dons. The full time whistle blows and it’s absolute jubilation for Wimbledon. That’s now 3 wins in a row against MK without conceding a single goal.

Full time MK 0-2 Wimbledon

An excellent display from the boys in yellow and blue and a win away! Hopefully this can help carry our momentum forward. Onto Grimbsy away.
