Wimbledons poor away form continues…

After the demolition job on Carlisle last Saturday, Johnnie Jackson’s men are heading up north to Nottingham to play promotion contenders Notts County. Last time Wimbledon traveled up to Meadow lane, they came out as 2-0 winners thanks to an own goal and a header from Kofi Balmer.  This time, it was deemed that it was going to be a very tough and tight game, to which it was. The first half delivered many chances for Wimbledon whose pressing had payed off. Chances were given to the likes of Matty Steven’s who tries to find the bottom left corner but is well saved from former dons keeper Alex Bass. Omar Bugiel would have felt he should have scored when a crossed ball fell to his head, unmarked but couldn’t find the back of the net as the ball drifted past the right side of the post.  After a plethora of chances for the Dons in the first half, who had kept County very quiet. The second half felt completely different. County dominated the ball for the rest of the game and ha...

Wimbledon demolish bottom of the table Carlisle

The return to plough lane. After 3 weeks of no home games being played. Wimbledon are back at plough lane thanks to the many volunteers and people at the club who helped get the pitch back up to shape in a very short period of time.  Wimbledon see off the week by  losing to Salford away 1-0 and then narrowly beating Crawley 3-4 in the Bristol street motors trophy, in which probably should of been a comfortable win considering Wimbledon were cruising 3-0 before Crawley hit back.  As for Saturday, the dons face Carlisle United who have had the start they would not of wanted after being relegated from league 1 the season before. Prior to the game, Carlisle sat 22nd in league 2 hovering just above the relegation zone with only 2 wins picked up. They brought in Mike Williamson, who many Wimbledon fans take a large disliking to due to his previous managerial role, and seems to implement a style of football in which seems to simply not work playing in league 2.  Changes fro...

Dons fail to score in their last 3 visits to the Peninsula Stadium as Salford run out as 1-0 winners.

The dons come off the back of a 1-0 loss away at St James Park in which Wimbledon put in a very solid effort and one to be proud of. The last league game Wimbledon played in was a stalemate with Bradford, before the pitch was put into pieces by the river Wandle. Since then the dons have had two league fixtures postponed and of the course the game against Newcastle being reversed up at their place.  As for todays game, Wimbledon fans seemed to be confident moving into today. The defensive trio of Harbottle, Lewis and Ogundere was working wonders. Jake Reeves was named back into the starting lineup even though  Johnnie Jackson had said he was still unavailable in the pre match interview.  As for the game, the first half offered very little but Salford having maybe slightly the more lively start over Wimbledon. Bright sparks from Neufville down the right hand side seemed to be causing the Salford fullback all kinds of problems but only ended up going out for corners. T...
