Dons fail to score in their last 3 visits to the Peninsula Stadium as Salford run out as 1-0 winners.

The dons come off the back of a 1-0 loss away at St James Park in which Wimbledon put in a very solid effort and one to be proud of. The last league game Wimbledon played in was a stalemate with Bradford, before the pitch was put into pieces by the river Wandle. Since then the dons have had two league fixtures postponed and of the course the game against Newcastle being reversed up at their place.

As for todays game, Wimbledon fans seemed to be confident moving into today. The defensive trio of Harbottle, Lewis and Ogundere was working wonders. Jake Reeves was named back into the starting lineup even though  Johnnie Jackson had said he was still unavailable in the pre match interview.

As for the game, the first half offered very little but Salford having maybe slightly the more lively start over Wimbledon. Bright sparks from Neufville down the right hand side seemed to be causing the Salford fullback all kinds of problems but only ended up going out for corners. The second half, Wimbledon seemed to have stepped their game up slightly, offering more attacking chances and winning a lot of corners. Salfords number 10, was booked for a very late challenge on Joe Lewis which forced the defender to be substituted. Many believe to be a red card. James Tilley and Josh Kelly were brought on just as the dons had won a corner. Tilley whips a ball in leaving Bugiel with a free header off a rebound to which appeared to be over the line but the referee had not seen it.

As the game draws to a close. In the final 5 minutes, Kelly N‘Mai, the player who should have been sent off, runs through the middle of the park with a lot of space to which he plays Luamba who slots it away. A poor goal to concede and a frustrating one to concede from a Wimbledon point of view.

Full Time: Salford 1-0 Wimbledon - Wimbledon have failed to score at the peninsula stadium in their last 3 visits.

Full time thoughts from me personally. Really disappointing to see a performance that felt quite flat compared to previous games this season. Maybe a lot of players were tired from Tuesday? Pigott and Bugiel don’t compliment eachother enough personally, we need to see Steven’s or Kelly come into the lineup so they can run in behind.

You win some you lose some, not the end of the world. For the positives we are back at Plough lane next week, finally, as we welcome Carlisle United.
