Dons drop 2 points in the last minute

After a dull performance on Tuesday night away at Fleetwood. The Dons will hope to put on a show to please the 1100 Wombles traveling to Colchester. It would not be an easy game though as Colchester were 7 unbeaten as they just come off a 1-1 draw away to Notts County which is a very good result.  The first half saw a bit of a repeat to what happened at Fleetwood. The unchanged side looked tired and Colchester were putting on some early pressure however the Dons dealt with it with two really good saves from Owen Goodman. A moment of quality 5 minutes before half time saw Marcus Browne seal his first goal in Wimbledon colours with a very neat finish into the bottom left hand corner.  The second half began and it seemed as if Wimbledon were most likely going to play out for the 0-1 win. Colchester were knocking on the door constantly with former Don, Lyle Taylor coming close a few times.  However it wasn’t until the last minute of the game were a freekick, (that shoul...

Dons earn a comfortable win against a promotion favorite

Wimbledon still unbeaten in 2025 and long may that continue as they comfortably beat Crewe last night, 3 goals to nil. Two changes saw James Furlong replaced for the returning James Tilley who missed out against Accrington due to his newborn. Also to be replaced was Josh Kelly who wasn’t in the squad at all last night as Marcus Browne took his place.  The game started off slow and pretty even with not any clear cut chances. Crewe looked well organized and had an obvious plan to frustrate the dons from getting anywhere near their goal. And to be fair they had done a pretty good job at it until the 40 minute mark where a ball was put across for Bugiel who was dragged down by Jamie Knight-Lebel who ironically scored against the Dons last time out. A penalty and a red card was given to the Bristol City loanee. There has been many speculations on whether that was a red card or not. But Wimbledon certainly won’t complain. Matty Steven’s steps up, and of course he scores.  Not ...

Dons keep their 14th clean sheet

Wimbledon face their ‘bogey’ team this weekend as they visit Accrington Stanley who sit in 20th position coming into this match. The Dons sit in 5th place after a great win against promotion rival Bradford last weekend. Accrington has never been an easy team to beat for Wimbledon as they have only managed to claim 3 points twice in the last seven meetings. Both of those win coming in 2021.  Changes included James Furlong replace James Tilley, and Sasu replace a tired Matty Steven’s. A very dull start saw neither side create much at all as Ben Woods shoots miles over the bar and Sasu sees a shot well saved after turning his man.  The Second half didn’t get much better, Marcus Browne and Steven’s came on to replace Kelly and Sasu. Browne looking like a great addition for the Dons as he looks to bring games to life with his tidy feet and quick dribbling. Best chance of the game fell to Marcus Browne who sees a shot blocked from going into the back of the net.  Full tim...

Dons end Bradfords unbeaten run!

After a well earned point away at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night, the Dons immediately have to face an inform Bradford side who sat in 4th place coming into this fixture. Recently beating the league leaders Walsall, they weren’t going to be pushovers for the Wombles.  These two sides never like to score much against each other; if one side were to score it would most likely only be a 1-0. Wimbledon go full strength this weekend after a rotated side against Crewe. Marcus Browne unlucky not to make the 11 after an impressive display on Tuesday.  The first 10 minutes were quite chaotic as both sides showed small spells of dominance. Bradford with a few half hearted chances but the first big chance came to Matty Steven’s after Josh Kelly turned away from his man to find Steven’s but the latter could only roll it towards goal. However a few minutes later the Dons came knocking on the door as Jake Reeves found himself with all the time in the world to whip a ball into the fa...
