Dons end Bradfords unbeaten run!

After a well earned point away at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday night, the Dons immediately have to face an inform Bradford side who sat in 4th place coming into this fixture. Recently beating the league leaders Walsall, they weren’t going to be pushovers for the Wombles.

These two sides never like to score much against each other; if one side were to score it would most likely only be a 1-0. Wimbledon go full strength this weekend after a rotated side against Crewe. Marcus Browne unlucky not to make the 11 after an impressive display on Tuesday.

The first 10 minutes were quite chaotic as both sides showed small spells of dominance. Bradford with a few half hearted chances but the first big chance came to Matty Steven’s after Josh Kelly turned away from his man to find Steven’s but the latter could only roll it towards goal. However a few minutes later the Dons came knocking on the door as Jake Reeves found himself with all the time in the world to whip a ball into the far post where an unmarked James Tilley nodded home the ball to make it 1-0 to the Dons.

Bradford definitely showed their quality as they were very slick with the passing creating a fair few chances for Alex Pattinson but great defending by Joe Lewis sees the ball cleared off the line and that was half time.

The second half seemed to lack a little less quality attacking wise than the first. But defensively Wimbledon couldn’t be broken down as Ryan Johnson clears yet another ball of the line at the start of the half. Later into the half saw the introduction of Marcus Browne and Aron Sasu onto the field where they both made an instant impact. Brownes silky dribbling saw him win a freekick to which he knuckleballs straight at Sam Walker. Into added time and the Dons were certain to have a penalty after Sasu was clearly rugby tackled in the box but somehow the ref waves it away.

Full time: AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Bradford City

A statement win for Wimbledon who looked pretty comfortable the whole game. Wimbledon now sit in 4th place. 1 point off the automatics whilst Bradford drop to 7th but certainly aren’t out of the promotion picture.

MOTM: Joe Lewis 🥇
