Mentality issues

After an okay point away to league leaders Walsall, the Dons are back on the road again as they face Swindon Town who have nothing really to play for.

The Dons really need a win to get themselves back in contention for the automatics. The first half saw a very scrappy game but a plethora of chances falling for both sides. Maycock coming the closest for the Dons who tries to bend it around the goalkeeper but a good save sees it out for a corner. Swindon had many chances to go ahead however Owen Goodman pulls out some tremendous saves, including a triple save just before halftime.

The second half saw the introduction of Marcus Browne who replaced Matty Steven’s. His introduction saw him get on the scoresheet for his 4th goal of the season as he sends the Dons 0-1 up in the 60th minute. The Dons seem to sit back for the rest of the game and after a few balls into the box, Harry Smith, who is a handful, seems to be dragged down by Joe Lewis and a penalty is given to Swindon in the 90th minute. Tshimanga converts. To make it any worse than it already was, Swindon break again on the counter and take an effort on goal which is saved and then rebounded onto John Joe O Tooles arm and Swindon are awarded 2 penalties in 2 minutes whilst O Toole is sent off. Tshimanga converts again and it’s game over.

Full time: Swindon Town 2-1 AFC Wimbledon

Very embarrassing. 3 games in a row we have taken a lead and haven’t seen it out. There is some sort of mentality issue in the squad at the moment. Johnnie Jackson needs to sort this out otherwise we might not even get playoffs.

MOTM: Owen Goodman 🥇
