Wimbledon take all 3 points in a hard fought game.

I was approaching this game full of confidence as we had beaten Premier League new boys Ipswich Town on Wednesday night - but I knew that this game was going to be quite scrappy. Fleetwood themselves have had a solid start to the campaign, going unbeaten in the league before this match. As for Wimbledon, we were sure to a be a little bit tired from how hard we worked on Wednesday night. With that said, we saw a few players rotated in the side today, with Matty Stevens being replaced by Joe Pigott in the starting 11. This may have come of a surprise to some fans after how well he played on Wednesday, but an understandable one as we don’t want to tire our players out so early into the season and risk a big injury. As for the game, I thought we were excellent in the first half, with a good spell of possession and some nice movements down the wing which is where I felt we were most threatening from. This is especially the case for Josh Neufville, who sees the ball fall to his feet at the e...

Dons produce a classic away day performance!

The Dons were back on the road again after we produced a decent performance against Wycombe earlier in the week in the Bristol street motors trophy. As the lineups were announced, I was surprised to not see Hus Biler not make it even into the squad as his performance on Tuesday was, in my opinion, outstanding. I heard rumors that he got injured during the game but nothing as of yet has been confirmed.  As for the first half, I thought we played some really nice football. We controlled possession well in midfield and we looked really comfortable and confident on the ball. It was just that finishing touch that was missing that really should have made us take the lead going into half time. Chances in the first half included Ryan Johnson’s free header at the back post of a corner, and Alistair Smiths effort on which he had wriggled through about 3 defenders who was really unfortunate to not see his effort on target. We were also defensively sound as Cheltenham couldn’t get into our hal...

Dons produce a lackluster performance against Bromley

After beating Bromley in the Efl cup earlier in the week, 2-1. I think we were all hoping we would back up this performance with another strong win. Considering we technically put out a stronger team than we did on Tuesday, it felt as if we were playing our, “B” team today.  I was a fan on the sofa today as Bromley could only give us 450 in the away end, which i unfortunately was not quick enough to snap up a ticket in time. But from what I saw it was very poor. First half we had more possession, it felt we had more control. But possession doesn’t win you games. And today was a prime example of it.  Despite winning on Tuesday, we had to come back from 1-0 down in which their goal was completely against the run of play as we had the better chances before their goal happened. The same happened today. Despite maybe the lack of chances from the dons but just holding onto possession for long periods of time, bromley find an opening and they slot the ball away against the run ...

Dons kick of the 24/25 campaign in style

New season, same old Wimbledon. Well that’s what I thought when we had conceded 2 goals within the first 10 minutes with Colchester scoring inside 54 seconds as I blinked to look the other way and see absolute carnage in the away stand. I started to feel a rush of deja vu, as if I’ve seen this type of Wimbledon before. And of course it brought me back to the season of relegation from league one. Two very poor goals to concede very early into the game which both came from crosses into our box which weren’t dealt with very well. Goodliffe was found free at the back post where he guides the ball into the far corner making it 1-0 to the away side. I blink to look up and before I knew it we were two down. Goodliffe again… this time we were actually marking him however he jumps highest and nods past Goodman to give Colchester a comfortable( at the time) 2-0 lead. I think I’d of probably sank into my seat at this point just wanting the  game to be over already. By the 10th minute I don’t ...

Welcome

Hello, my name is Ollie, I’m a student currently In my last year of A-levels and I’ve decided to create a blog page to share and express each week something that I love. That is of course football. I’m an AFC Wimbledon supporter since young with my uncle taking me to my first game back at Kingsmeadow where we drew 0-0 to Accrington Stanley in 2015. It’s best to say it wasn’t the most exciting of games for someone’s first football match. However the more I went the more I felt a deeper connection to the club. I remember the first big game I had gone to see Wimbledon play and it was my first game away from watching dons play at kingsmeadow. I attended the league 2 playoff final in 2016 against Plymouth Argyle where we came away as 2-0 winners and that experience, that atmosphere, it was just incredible and ever since it’s brought me closer to the club. As I was younger I couldn’t attend as many games but now it’s my 4th year coming up as a dons season ticket holder and I’ve decided ...
