Dons produce a lackluster performance against Bromley

After beating Bromley in the Efl cup earlier in the week, 2-1. I think we were all hoping we would back up this performance with another strong win. Considering we technically put out a stronger team than we did on Tuesday, it felt as if we were playing our, “B” team today.

I was a fan on the sofa today as Bromley could only give us 450 in the away end, which i unfortunately was not quick enough to snap up a ticket in time. But from what I saw it was very poor. First half we had more possession, it felt we had more control. But possession doesn’t win you games. And today was a prime example of it.

Despite winning on Tuesday, we had to come back from 1-0 down in which their goal was completely against the run of play as we had the better chances before their goal happened. The same happened today. Despite maybe the lack of chances from the dons but just holding onto possession for long periods of time, bromley find an opening and they slot the ball away against the run of the play from Micheal Cheek.

Despite us hitting the post in which really should have gone in. We trail 1-0 at the break. The second half just didn’t get any better did it. There wasn’t any real desire to win the game and it was just a really hard watch. The 60th minute mark really killed the game off. Bromleys full back pulls off and incredible run from his own half, past 6 of our players like they weren’t even their touch he squared into Whiteley who finished into the bottom left corner of the goal. That goal really took the steam out us and it looked as if we had ran out of ideas and resulted in “hoof ball” which we all know hasn’t worked out in the past.

It’s fair to say it wasn’t the most inspiring of performances from the dons. We can’t keep conceding first every time and expect to make and incredible comeback. That can’t happen every week. Our latest addition of Riley Harbottle hopefully can assure the defense up a little bit and hopefully start on the weekend.

Full time Bromley 2-0 AFC Wimbledon

Onto next week
