Welcome

 Hello, my name is Ollie, I’m a student currently In my last year of A-levels and I’ve decided to create a blog page to share and express each week something that I love. That is of course football. I’m an AFC Wimbledon supporter since young with my uncle taking me to my first game back at Kingsmeadow where we drew 0-0 to Accrington Stanley in 2015. It’s best to say it wasn’t the most exciting of games for someone’s first football match. However the more I went the more I felt a deeper connection to the club. I remember the first big game I had gone to see Wimbledon play and it was my first game away from watching dons play at kingsmeadow. I attended the league 2 playoff final in 2016 against Plymouth Argyle where we came away as 2-0 winners and that experience, that atmosphere, it was just incredible and ever since it’s brought me closer to the club. As I was younger I couldn’t attend as many games but now it’s my 4th year coming up as a dons season ticket holder and I’ve decided to review these games on this blog as I one day would like to venture and become a sports journalist. I think this may be somewhat of a good start going into that sort of path. I hope this will gain interest into fellow dons fans who might want to comment on any of their thoughts on a game or just in general. But this is just a sort of welcome, if your like, or introduction to my page and hopefully all goes to plan 😅

Dons kick of the 24/25 campaign in style

New season, same old Wimbledon. Well that’s what I thought when we had conceded 2 goals within the first 10 minutes with Colchester scoring inside 54 seconds as I blinked to look the other way and see absolute carnage in the away stand. I started to feel a rush of deja vu, as if I’ve seen this type of Wimbledon before. And of course it brought me back to the season of relegation from league one. Two very poor goals to concede very early into the game which both came from crosses into our box which weren’t dealt with very well. Goodliffe was found free at the back post where he guides the ball into the far corner making it 1-0 to the away side. I blink to look up and before I knew it we were two down. Goodliffe again… this time we were actually marking him however he jumps highest and nods past Goodman to give Colchester a comfortable( at the time) 2-0 lead. DONS TRIUMPH OVER RIVALS…. AGAIN

Where do I start? Just a phenomenal performance today. Everyone on that pitch in a blue and yellow shirt, the true colours of Wimbledon, were absolutely outstanding, not a foot wrong.  Our form coming into this match, 6 wins and 1 loss whilst the franchise have had a shocking start to the season with only 2 wins and 5 losses in all competitions. I was feeling confident especially after what happened last time… I wanted it to happen all over again today. The lineup wasn’t too surprising, possibly Tilley coming in for Furlong, but I understand he had just come back from international duty, also Ryan Johnson seems to be out for a few weeks with the injury he picked up against Fleetwood. And for their lineup… I couldn’t care less. We started the game very well, putting intense pressure whenever they had the ball but also keeping hold of the ball well, playing it into good areas of which we could put balls into the box.
